History

Chez Fab Arts and Community Project was founded by Cindy Wonderful in 2015. It is now a living organization with board members, and volunteers, but it all started with a girl and a dream.

Before emerging in Baton Rouge, Cindy Wonderful spent a decade traveling the world as 1/2 of the international  DIY Queer Punk Rap duo SCREAM CLUB . Career highlights include being the subject of the full lenght documentary film And You Belong (Julia Ostertag). Starting the record label CRUNKS NOT DEAD and releasing numberous records for  several artist. Collaborating with super cool artists like Peaches, Wesley Willis, Beth Ditto, AwolOne, Katastrophe, and more, creating and running the underground art gallery in Berlin Germany THE FAB LAB, and the Urban Art House in North Baton Rouge the orignal CHEZ FAB.

But before all of that fun stuff, most of her upbringing she was a reject and an outcast. The pain of that experience  made her passionate about creating environments where people of all sexual preferences, genders, races, economic backgrounds, body types, and abilities feel accepted, valued, welcomed, safe, and supported to express themselves, be celebrated, and transform their dreams and aspirations into realities.

Weather its through Art Shows, Movie Screenings, Film Shoots, Workshops, Renovation Projects, Food and Clothes distribution,  or supplying local High Schools or dance troops with Marching band hats, no matter what shape it takes, you can find Chez Fab building bridges to Unite Baton Rouge and Beyond through Creative Expression, Community Engagement, and service.
